Postdoctoral associate position opened

Postdoctoral research associate in Cellular/Molecular biology (1-5 years) Prague, Czech Republic

Job description

The Chemical Biology group of Dr. Hana Cahova at IOCB Prague is looking for a talented, enthusiastic, independent, and highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to join our team. The goal of Dr. Cahova’s research is an in-depth study of non-canonical RNA capping. Recently, we discovered that various metabolites serve as 5’ RNA caps in various organisms. This project will focus on understanding the biological role of these RNA modifications in mammalian cells.

Dr. Hana Cahova completed her PhD in organic chemistry at IOCB Prague and UCT Prague. Afterwards, she received an Alexander von Humboldt postdoctoral fellowship for the study of coenzyme-RNA conjugates and pursued her postdoctoral research at Heidelberg University. After a career break, she established a research group at IOCB Prague, and in 2022, she received an ERC Starting Grant to study non-canonical RNA capping (https://www.cahovagroup.com/).

IOCB Prague is a leading internationally recognized research institution, a part of the Czech Academy of Sciences, whose mission is basic research in chemical and biological sciences. Its main areas of expertise are Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Organic Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, Material Science, Chemistry of Natural Products and Computational Chemistry.
